254,000 / (1+10%)^5
Is this to the 5th power?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, you are correct!
The expression (1+10%)^5 indeed means raising (1+0.10) to the 5th power.
You’re most welcome!
Hi, for question 19, I have an alternative method but I would like to ask the team to confirm if this is correct.
30 years;
1,800 × (1.08)^30 = 18,113
25 years;
1,800 × (1.08)^25 = 12,327
the difference would be 5,786
but would this answer still be correct if given in the choices above?
Hello Ryo,
Conceptually, your method is correct, but to align with the answer choices on the CPA exam, you should stick with the exam’s supplied factors. If no tables were provided, $5,786 would have been the right answer choice.
Hope that clears it up!
